We have an immediate opening for a Full Time Corporate Communications Manager position at our Marketing department in Alexandria, Virginia location.
You will be responsible for devising and executing internal and external messaging strategies companywide. The position will report to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and is a key member of the Marketing team primarily charged with overseeing communications that drive shareholder value, focused on building PenFed’s brand through corporate storytelling and mitigating reputational risks. The position serves as a company spokesperson, developing, cultivating, and managing relationships with media, employees, the Board, and industry associations. The individual interfaces daily at high levels of the organization to successfully align strategic corporate communications with our business strategy.  
 
Essential Duties:
 
Develop and implement communications strategies and messaging that resonate with members, the news media and employees.
• Manage media relations to sustain and enhance our reputation.
• Coordinate companywide participation in conferences worldwide, working closely with marketing managers and project teams to create and execute effective marketing communications activities.
• Develop and manage speaker’s bureau, positioning executives as thought leaders at external events.
• Manage key industry communications issues and serve as a liaison with industry.
• Support the development of communication products including Annual Report, Newsletter, and other corporate materials.
• Consult on social media strategy and messaging to ensure alignment with corporate communication goals.
• Advise executives on external communications and media relations.

It is incumbent upon all employees to maintain current knowledge of and take personal action to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances as well as PenFed policies, procedures, rules and regulations applicable to incumbent’s professional duties, responsibilities and obligations

Special Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in communication, Journalism or related field.
• Minimum of five years corporate communications experience with preference given to business/finance arena.
• Excellent writing, editing, communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to simply and compellingly relate a story.
• Understanding of social/digital media and the relationship between internal and external communications.
• Experience in Marketing Communications and branding implementation.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Highly competent, extremely discreet in judgment while maintaining high levels of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:
• Handles detailed, complex concepts and problems, balances multiple tasks simultaneously, and makes rapid decisions regarding administrative and project issues.
• Required to effectively communicate and develop smooth and constructive relationships with internal/external customers, management, staff, members and vendors.
• Maintains a flexible work schedule and must possess mobility, stamina and manual dexterity to work in a standard office setting and meet the demands of the position where the hours may be long and irregular.
• Conveys a professional and positive image and attitude regarding PenFed and demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth and development.
