Description

Atlantic Media Company is looking for a top-tier VP of Sales & Marketing to help build and lead a new global business and finance digital media property. The candidate will help develop and be responsible for a successful revenue strategy across all digital platforms. Building innovative digital advertising formats and cultivating new business relationships with advertising clients will be critical in achieving this goal. In addition, the VP of Sales & Marketing will work closely with the Editor-In-Chief to devise a sophisticated business plan and model, create the initial budget, and set operational strategy for the new brand. The VP must be relentlessly focused on tracking the key metrics of the business and adjust strategy as needed. This position will be based in New York (some time in Washington DC is likely as well).

In addition, the specific duties and responsibilities may include:
• Build a “tier 1” sales and marketing team built to utilize a wide variety of digital advertising formats tailored to individual advertising clients
• Lead, motivate, and coach advertising sales team as they develop and deliver winning programs and proposals that lead to lasting and commercially successful advertising partnerships
• Direct development and execution of innovative advertising and integrated sales plans
• Develop and manage relationships that culminate not only in sales growth but also in tangible ideas to grow our business
• Interface with EIC and Product Director to refine and pivot the revenue and product strategies as dictated by audience interest and advertisers’ appetites
• Meet with advertisers and ad agencies to articulate the editorial mission and readership of the new brand, learn about their marketing strategy and objectives, and determine a fit between the brand and potential advertiser
• Update progress with advertisers daily and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue projections through salesforce.com

The ideal candidate:
• 10+ years previous sales or digital sales experience; publishing experience in finance helpful
• Goal driven with outstanding record of achievement in current/past positions
• Has previously managed and/or built a sales team with success in current/past positions
• Has worked in sales for a growing media/consumer tech firm, preferably a digital media startup
• Understands the needs of and has access the target audience – global business elites and business professionals aspiring to global business elite status
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills and analytics judgment
• Effective time management and organization skills
• Willingness and ability to travel

Compensation: commensurate with experience, but highly competitive with significant incentives for achieving financial success
