Job Description:

 

The Ad Operations Manager will play a critical role within our sophisticated digital strategy team, while also working hand-in-hand with our fast-paced advertising sales team to manage The Atlantic's digital business and to deliver outstanding and innovative campaigns to our clients. Responsibilities include scheduling and trafficking ads, managing media placements in coordination with internal departments, as well as producing comprehensive reports and analysis of ad performance, inventory availability and sell-thru rates.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the scheduling, production and implementation of all online advertising campaigns to ensure timely, accurate implementation, as well as full delivery.
  • Set up, modify and manage online and mobile ad serving systems – including tagging and targeting schematic, as well as advertising specs and guidelines – as new partners are added and as and company and product offerings evolve.
  • Advise/consult with internal departments regarding advertising inventory, availability forecasting, campaign performance and sell-thru rates. Provide frequent updates to Sales and Marketing on inventory/sell-thru and campaign delivery statuses.
  • Manage the overall “health” of digital ad business: liaise with Web Production, Sales, Marketing and Analytics regarding planning, prioritization, scheduling and delivery of campaigns.
  • Act as a gateway during the RFP/IO generation process and throughout the life of a campaign: approve media plans and inventory levels proposed, manage delivery, testing, troubleshooting and trafficking of all ad creative. Oversee the QA process, including screening all incoming creative to uphold content restrictions and quality assure all booked advertisements.
  • Work closely with Sales Planners and Sales Reps, serving as a resource for analyzing data, preparing recommendations and performing periodic optimizations to further increase campaign success rate and future business.
  • Interface with Production and Sales/Marketing teams to coordinate new ad packages, custom sponsorships, and strategic ad offerings.
  • Support creative/technical related inquiries from clients.
  • Partner with Business Development and Sales/Marketing to explore new technologies and potential external partners that will help bolster online and mobile advertising capabilities to drive business.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years hands-on experience working with an online ad operations team using the DART (DFP) Internet ad serving systems.
  • Experience working with both web developers and with sales professionals is strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of contracts, experience reviewing IOs/Terms and Conditions is also preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of campaign success metrics and analytics: conversions, target CPA's, etc.
  • Experience with HTML, JavaScript, Flash and rich media, including: 1) Various forms of online creative formats and related code, 2) Ability to create, modify and troubleshoot most ad types, and 3) Astute knowledge working with rich media ad trafficking including video streaming, etc.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • Strong project management and communication skills – ability to communicate effectively across all departments, with individuals at all levels of the company.
  • Strong analytical, strategic and creative problem solving skills.
  • Must be extremely organized and detail oriented.
