The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks a Senior Web Developer to complete technical analysis, design, programming and maintenance activities to help manage EurekAlert!'s growing technological operation.
As EurekAlert!'s client base continues to expand, ongoing redesign and modernization of the website, on both the front and back end, will be required to keep pace with changes in technology as well as user preferences. The Senior Web Developer manages major upgrade projects, completes system maintenance tasks, and develops, tests, and implements new features in response to client needs -- from journal portals to interactive science games for younger visitors, as assigned. The Senior Web Developer works under the supervision of the EurekAlert! Director, but takes the initiative to independently and continuously check for problems to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the entire EurekAlert! website. Finally, the Senior Web Developer brings both technical knowledge and a high-level of interpersonal and communication skills to bear by serving as the primary backup for the EurekAlert! Director, as needed, in meetings with vendors, AAAS Information Technology colleagues, the Office of Public Programs (OPP) Director and other senior managers.
