AboutWeb is seeking a Front End Web Developer who will be willing to work in Washington D.C.

 

Job Description:

Web front end developer with HTML, JAVA Script, CSS experience. Accessibility, Photoshop experience and strong customer service/interfacing skills required.  Position will  require strong content management skills, frontend development, and web program management support.  Works with other web developers, graphic designers, program and usability specialist to develop the site concept, interface design, and support the architecture of the website. Requires strong navigation and site design instincts. Knowledgeable in web development methodology to include CM and testing. Typically requires a college degree in computer science or a related field, and developmental experience in web-based languages.

  • Update and manage an extensive amount of content in support of a large scale web migration
  • Update and maintain system code, templates, style sheets, and content
  • Troubleshoot and debug technical problems with user content, custom code, software functionality and server performance.
  • Maintain site wide design consistency, content formatting, section 508 compliance, WAI (web accessibility initiative) and WCAG- Web Content Accessiblity Guidelines, and government and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Web regulations, requirements and branding compliance.
  • Study and generate site metrics and usability reports in order to improve interface design and architecture of existing Web sites.
  • Collaborate with programmers to design and implement front-end interfaces for custom database driven Web applications.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to design new site concepts, redesign existing sites, and incorporate custom microsites.
  • Collaborate and interface with customers and communication representatives to determine requirements and creative options for managing and promoting web content.  
  • Apply best practices for web content development and provide concepts that improve usability of site
  • Incorporate custom media components including dynamic photo galleries and Extensible Markup Language (XML) enabled Flash Video (FLV) players.
  • Experience, understanding and development of social media as it relates to the development of a CMS and website.

 

 

Must have strong customer interface skills and demonstrate skill in meeting with clients, assessing needs, determining resources and budgets, developing concepts/storyboarding, and carrying through to finished product. 

 

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, mathematics, or engineering or a mathematics-intensive discipline, or an applicable training certificate from an accredited institution with two (8) years of experience in a computer related field including development and design of software systems and WEB development.

Required Skills:

·         Demonstrated ability to code under 508 compliance, WAI (web accessibility initiative) and WCAG- Web Content Accessiblity Guidelines. Demonstrated ability and desire to manage and quickly update a multitude of content in support of large web migration.

  • Expert knowledge of the following tools and equipment:
    • Mac OS X, Windows 7 and XP
    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
    • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to work directly with federal customers, take direction and communicate effectively.
  • Works well in a collaborative team environment as well as demonstrating independent initiative and follow through.
  • Ability to organize and manage several large projects at once.
  • Stellar communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, planning, organization, follow-up skills
  • Strong customer service and social skills.

 

Desired Experience:

·         Experience with Adobe Communique 5 (CQ5) or similar CMS that integrates web content management, digital asset management, and social collaboration into one platform.
