Position Description:

Provides high level expertise in developing complex software applications involving new technologies, methods, concepts, or approaches. Designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation. Manages software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Based on functional and conceptual design specifications, develops diagrammatic plans and design logic required to implement computer programs, ADP systems and procedures in support of technical, administrative and information management functions and operations. Reviews existing programs and assists in making refinements, reducing operating time and improving current techniques. Formulates and defines specifications for software applications or modifies and maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. Evaluates new and existing software products for implementation.
The Application Engineer (AE) is an experienced team member who has sound experience designing, implementing, customizing, and developing custom software for Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Project Server solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develop custom applications/components to support enterprise projects
• Coordinate with stakeholder management to formulate highly complex technical solutions, including automation of resource pool, dashboards, and reporting.
• Implement custom workflow, collaboration, and document management solutions in Microsoft SharePoint using a combination of SharePoint Designer and SharePoint built-in functionality and custom web parts.
• Maintain current industry knowledge of development concepts, best practices and procedures for SharePoint and Microsoft Project Server solutions.
• Create and maintain custom Enterprise Project Types
• Develop a resource pool automation capability
• Maintain and create MS Project Server Views
• Design and build Project sites
• Design and develop appropriate reporting views, and input screens
• Architect workflow solutions
• Provide tier 3 support for application users
• Technical documentation and reporting

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

8-10 years of related software development experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• 2+ years of SharePoint 2010 development experience
• Technically proficient in .NET development, preferably C#.Net
• Proficient with Visual Studio 2008/2010 development environments and tools
• Experience with Microsoft SQL 2008/2012
• Solid understanding of advanced Microsoft Project Server configurations as well as the integration of Project Server within the SharePoint framework
• Experience providing solid approaches, designs, and hands-on development of SharePoint web parts, forms, and workflows
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project Web Access
• Solutions development using SharePoint designer
• Strong organization and strong verbal and written communications skills; must clearly communicate technical issues and resolutions to team, customers, and management

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• SharePoint 2013 development experience is a plus
• Experience with SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
• PMP Certification
• MCITP in Enterprise Project Management, or MCTS in SharePoint 2010 is a plus
• Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) experience and integration with MS Project Server.
• Experience with Project Server and Project Management Institute experience, particularly dealing with application and practice within federal and military projects/programs
• Experience with server hardening and security implementation strategies.
• Familiarity with 3rd Party tools / add-ons to Project Server


***This position requires applicants to successfully complete the security application process with the intent of gaining a government-granted, secret security clearance AND receive an interim clearance prior to starting.***

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• 5+ years of experience in Microsoft Project Server installation, configuration, and administration
• 5+ years of experience in Windows Server, MS SQL Reporting Services
• Understanding of advanced Microsoft Project Server configuration and trends
• Strong writing and documentation skills a must including being able to train technical and end users
• Strong organization and strong verbal and written communications skills; must clearly communicate technical issues and resolutions to team, customers, and management

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• PMP Certification
• MCITP in Enterprise Project Management, or MCTS in SharePoint 2010 is a plus
