Description



The Development Effort Consolidation Contract (DECC) of which CSC is the lead under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) constructs CMSs forward looking health care quality systems environment.  This program is in it's 4th option period supporting various lines of businesses across the agency.
 
The Senior Test Automation Engineer will join an Agile Automation Test Team with the primary focus to design, implement and maintain the test automation suite and tools, writing and executing test scripts. Senior QA team members are expected to provide technical, product and process guidance to other QA team members. 
 
Work Location: Columbia, MD. Must be willing to submit to standard background investigation.
 
Essential Job Functions 
 
  • Develop a testing framework that simplifies the development of an automated test
  • suite by providing a set of reusable services
  • Utilize UFT to develop modular automated test scripts (keyword/data driven) utilizing reusable functions, action libraries, exception handling and perform basic management of object repositories
  • Develop reusable functions and components that can be used to maintain and extend automated tests for multiple projects with maximum reuse of code
  • Contributing to the development and promotion of design and coding standards for automated testing scripts
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise and advice to testing teams in the use of the automation framework, to facilitate the use of automated testing across multiple projects and work streams
  • Research tools, methods, and technology trends to support programs test automation objectives
  • For assigned projects, review project information such as requirements and technical specifications to understand the system workflow
  • Review manual test cases, executing where necessary, to understand the low level detail and identify functions required to enable scripting/coding
  • Identify application components to be automated based on both the business priority and expected benefit of automated testing
  • Develop a design approach for automated testing for assigned projects. Document the proposed approach and review it with the project team
  • Provide level of effort and schedule estimates for test script development work
  • Participate in reviews and inspections that pertain to the inputs to test automation as well as the test automation code
  • Develop test data in preparation for test execution.
  • Interactively participate in release meetings (release planning, sprint kick off, sprint review, retrospectives and daily scrum meetings).
  • Maintain test scripts, making changes where necessary in order to maintain their proper functioning as applications and data change
  • Execute automated test scripts for smoke test and regression testing cycles. Analyze and report test results
  • Document application problems found using automated tests, including scripting steps and data needed to reproduce the problem
  • Report test execution progress and test results to the lead
  • Understand and follow the processes and project methodologies for DECC program
  • Work effectively within team and across inter-dependent teams on defined deliverables.

Qualifications



Basic Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or related field preferred
  • Six or more years of testing experience
  • Experience working with computer systems and their uses
  • Experience working with telecommunications systems and their corresponding principles
  • Experience working with network management and protocol system testing
  • Experience working with scripting languages such as TCL, PERL, HP, etc
  • Experience working with data transmission protocols such as TCP/IP, etc.
  • Experience working with operating systems

 

Other Qualifications
 
  • Six or more years of experience in Quality Assurance/Testing, programming or related experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in developing and executing automated test scripts using Unified Functional Test (UFT) or Quick Test Professional (QTP).
  • 5 or more years of experience in VBScript (or equivalent scripting language experience)
  • 5 or more years of experience using HP Quality Center (ALM) and/or Quality Center project/site administration
  • Minimum 5 years experience with testing web-based and/or client-server applications
  • 3-5 years experience with Oracle, PL/SQL Developer (or other database query tools) and XML (preferred)
  • Experience with testing applications using Java, IIS/ASP, Oracle.
  • Experience with testing systems developed in a SOA environment preferred.
  • Experience with various Software Testing methods (i.e. Black Box, White Box, Error Processing, Navigation, etc.)
  • Hands-on testing experience with Windows, UNIX and/or Linux operating systems
  • Experience with Serena CM is a plus.
  • Good grasp of Microsoft 2000 Office Products and a solid technical background that includes a general familiarity with programming logic, shadowing capability, and technical client support.
  • Proven scripting experiences with XML objects and SQL statements
  • Understanding of testing and development life cycle methodologies
  • Experience in software development environments using Agile approach
  • Working knowledge and experience in all phases of software development lifecycle
  • (SDLC), including requirements analysis, test planning, test case design,
  • and test execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to thoroughly document and convey risks and issues.
