A Clarksville room where the kids can hang and dad can rock

THE CHALLENGE

Debbie and Terry Stambaugh of Clarksville want to make over their 20-by-20-foot sunroom. It has been their kids’ game room for years, but now they’d like to turn it into a music room for Terry’s band. Their wish list includes plenty of seating, an area rug and storage for the guitars and wires.

THE SOLUTION

By adding built-in cabinets and a sophisticated lounge area, Kiera Kushlan and Jessica Centella created a space where guests can hang and Dad can rock.

Paint the walls a cloudy gray. Give the room a touch of drama with Graytint by Benjamin Moore.

Custom built-in cabinets help organize the clutter. Use them to display instruments and stow away wires.

Create a lounge where guests can sit. Arrange the sofa and chairs in the center of the space for a cozy, intimate feel.

Anchor the furniture on an area rug. This will define the seating area and could potentially improve the room’s acoustics.

Swap the tiny ceiling light for a large, industrial chandelier. This better fits the scale and function of the space.

Create an accent wall with colorful wallpaper. It’s a creative alternative to traditional artwork displays.
