2012 Holiday Crafts Contest returns

We’re happy to announce our third annual Holiday Crafts Contest.

Be creative. Your craft can be made of any material you like, so long as it is themed for the winter or holiday season. The design chosen by our judges — Local Living editor Liz Seymour, home and design writer Jura Koncius and crafts expert Nicholas Bell, a curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery and organizer of the museum’s “40 Under 40: Craft Futures” exhibition — will receive a $500 American Express gift card and be featured in Local Living. The readers’ choice, selected in online voting, will receive a $100 card.

Meet the 2011 winners: Elizabeth Tung won the grand prize for her paper star woven with gold metallic thread. Snowflake garland made by Judi Kauffman came in second place and won the Readers’ Choice award. Carole Bellacera’s jeweled trees won third place.

Submit your design and upload a photo to our gallery, read the contest rules and see photos of the winning entries from the past two years. Please note that only images submitted prior to 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Dec. 3 will be considered.
