For Obama daughters, a second term in the White House doesn’t mean a second dog
Sasha and Malia Obama got some bad news early Wednesday morning.
Yes, their dad, President Barack Obama won reelection, which means the girls will get to live in the White House for four more years. That means the sisters don’t have to worry about moving back to Chicago and changing schools in the middle of the year.
But when then-Senator Obama was running for president in 2008, he promised his daughters that after the election the family could get a dog. In April 2009, the first family got Bo, a Portuguese water dog puppy.
But in his speech thanking voters for reelecting him, President Obama delivered the news to Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, that a second election wouldn’t mean a second dog.
While noting how proud he is of his daughters, “One dog’s probably enough,” the president said.
