About India
Size: India is the world’s seventh-largest country in land mass and the second-largest in population.
Population: Of its 1.19 billion people, about 30 percent are kids, age 14 and younger.
Capital: New Delhi.
Languages: About 41 percent of the population speaks Hindi, but more than a dozen other languages are also spoken.
Religion: More than 80 percent of Indians are Hindu. Muslims make up more than 13 percent of the population and Christians just more than 2 percent.
Education: The average Indian child goes to school for 10 years.
Internet use: More than 61 million people have Internet access, sixth highest in the world.
