In Dewey Beach, Del., a family’s beach retreat

For Russell and Emily Canard of Chevy Chase, nothing but the beach will do.

This simple, cedar modular home in Dewey Beach, Del., is one of dozens built in the area in the 1960s and '70s by Wilmington-based DFD Inc. The rear of the house has a screened porch, added last year; the family often eats at the picnic table. On the left is a glimpse of one of the guest rooms (with salmon walls); on the right, behind the surfboard, is the owners’ yellow bedroom.
