Arnold Schwarzenegger: He began the year by closing the chapter on his years as governor, then followed that up with a messy split from wife Maria Shriver and revelations that he fathered a child with a former housekeeper. Not the strongest 2011.

Ashton Kutcher: After replacing Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men" in a lucrative deal, this should have been a golden year for Kutcher. But his performance on the show hasn't exactly been lauded, he's had reported marital problems with Demi Moore due to an alleged cheating scandal and he recently turned over his Twitter feed to his management after an ill-advised comment about Penn State coach Joe Paterno.

Kate Gosselin: After being the reigning queen of reality show moms (as well as source of mommy blog schadenfreude), Gosselin's show, "Kate Plus 8," got canceled. It ended its run in September; Gosselin showed evidence of a rebound, though. She now has a job as a coupon blogger on CouponCabin.com.

Jennifer Lopez: She made her debut as an "American Idol" host but her arrival wasn't a smashing success; ratings for the Fox sing-off were down. But the worst setback for J.Lo this year was undoubtedly her split from husband Marc Anthony.

Tracy Morgan: After making derogatory comments about gays during a stand-up set in Nashville, Morgan was roundly criticized by many, including "30 Rock" co-star Tina Fey. He later publicly apologized for his comments, but the debacle was enough to make this less than a stellar year for the actor.

Hilary Swank: The Oscar-winner committed a major error by appearing at a birthday celebration for Chechen Republic President Ramzan Kadyrov, a controversial leader accused of human relations. She later apologized for the incident but her reputation as a socially responsible celeb took a hit.

George Lopez: Not only was "Lopez Tonight," George Lopez's TBS talk show, canceled, it was removed from the air the day after the network made the announcement. On the plus side for Lopez, his movie "The Smurfs" did quite well at the box office.

Scarlett Johansson: ScarJo has not had the best year. Her divorce from Ryan Reynolds was finalized. Her brief romance with Sean Penn ended practically before it began. And nude photos hacked from her cell phone were distributed online, adding another element to an FBI investigation.

Jada Pinkett Smith: Both Pinkett Smith and her husband Will had a rotten 2011 moment when rumors swirled that their marriage might be ending. But her fortunes took a slightly worse turn than her husband's when she and Marc Anthony were forced to deny suggestions that they had an affair, denials that came right before their TNT series, "HawthoRNe" got canceled.

Kim Kardashian: This was supposed to be Kardashian's fairytale year, assuming you believed the Kardashian fairytale story that played out between she and husband Kris Humphries. But after widely publicized engagement and over-the-top wedding ceremony, Kardashian filed for divorce and sparked massive criticism from those who accused her of saying vows as a publicity stunt.

Lindsay Lohan: One day maybe Lohan will end up on a list of celebs who had a good year. This is not that year: She was accused of jewelry theft, assigned to do community service at a morgue, on house arrest, off house arrest, back in jail then out of jail again, but still on probation. It was frankly hard to keep track of it all, but it was clear that it was all bad.
