Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver announced May 9 that they are separating. The actor and former California governor and his wife have been married for 25 years.

"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," he told the Los Angeles Times. "I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family.
