NIGHT LIFE
Asia After Dark
Carlo Pizarro/Stereo Vision Photography - Barakaat Middle Eastern Dance Company will add a little spice to Thursday night's Asia After Dark party at the Freer and Sackler galleries.
NIGHT LIFE
Asia After Dark
You don’t have to claim Asia as the motherland to have fun roaming the galleries and outdoor garden during the Freer and Sackler galleries’ summertime soiree, dubbed Asia After Dark, on Thursday. With a theme of “One Thousand and One Nights,” the event features belly dancing, Arabic-music DJs and food and cocktails. Can’t make it Thursday? Save the date for the Renwick Gallery’s new Handi-Hour, with craft beers handpicked by Greg Engert of ChurchKey, a sit-n-knit area and a stash of bijou to make your own crafts. (For details on the Aug. 25 event, visit www.americanart.si.edu/renwick.) A bonus: If you’re looking for cool date ideas, both events will easily fit the bill.
Asia After Dark is Thursday from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. 1050 Independence Ave. SW. www.asia.si.edu/asiaafterdark. $22 in advance (includes one drink and admission to the afterparty at Georgetown’s L2 nightclub); $25 at the door.
