Hints From Heloise: Is this how you do it at home?
Dear Readers: People sure can be messy when they use a PUBLIC RESTROOM. No matter where you go, someone has left behind a mess. It does not matter what state, city, town or airport you’re at.
I have seen toilet paper and paper towels on the floor, and dirty counters. It makes me think about the bathrooms at these patrons’ homes. Do they leave a mess behind no matter where they go?
If you don’t sit all the way down on the commode, please clean up after yourself. If you place paper or use one of the seat liners, please dispose of it properly -- don’t just toss it on the floor.
I must admit that I have used clean paper towels to pick up paper off the floor. Here is something to think about: If you enter an airplane bathroom, and it’s messy, do you just leave it that way? I feel I need to pick up after the person who was there before. Wonder why I would do this? Well, if people have watched me enter the bathroom and then exit, and then they go in to find a mess, who do you think they are going to assume made the mess? That’s right — me! And with phones able to take photos and instantly post them on the Internet, I don’t want to take a chance.
It will make a difference if everyone simply cleans up after him- or herself. For goodness’ sake, it only takes a second or two! So, for the sake of common courtesy, keep the bathroom clean! -- Heloise

Dear Heloise: Sometimes it is hard to keep track of what row I’m on when I’m knitting and there are multiple rows to a pattern. I discovered that a small sticky note works great. Just move it along as you knit. When the stickum wears off, just get a new one. -- K.A.S., Springfield, Ill.
