On Love: Ann Lefeve weds Drew Snyder
Ann Lefeve & Drew Snyder
Ann Lefeve, 27, develops international educational programs. Drew Snyder, 31, does historic renovations. They live in Churchville, Va.
Wedding date: Oct. 27, 2012.
Location: Castle Hill Cider, Charlottesville.
How they met: Snyder and Lefeve were both attendants at a November 2007 wedding in Virginia Beach. “We hit it off from the start,” said Lefeve. But Snyder was living in Livingston, Mont.; Lefeve in Washington’s Glover Park. After six months of letters, e-mails and phone calls, Snyder came for a week-long visit. The day he left she called him to ask when he was coming back. They dated long-distance for a year before Lefeve moved to Montana, where they stayed for two years before returning to Virginia, where both had grown up.
The proposal: On Dec. 23, 2011, Lefeve and Snyder took a drive to a farm outside of Staunton, Va. On the drive home, he pulled off at an overlook with a view of the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains. As they were leaving, Snyder said, “I just have a question for you” and got down on one knee with her grandmother’s diamond ring in hand.
The wedding: Lefeve arrived in a vintage car and wore her mother’s veil. A traditional Episcopalian ceremony accompanied by bluegrass music took place in a tent outside, followed by a three-course dinner in a barn. The couple loves to dance and hired a Motown band to play. Snyder and Lefeve got the party going with swing dance moves to “Little Bitty Pretty One” by Thurston Harris. In lieu of favors, the couple donated money to 11 charities; a card with the charity name and explanation for giving to each was at every place setting.
The honeymoon: After catching a flight out of Dulles ahead of Hurricane Sandy, the couple spent a week in Iceland watching the Northern Lights and enjoying the natural hot springs.
