Prince William County will host a one-day bus tour this month focusing on the sites and stories surrounding the First Battle of Manassas, the first major battle of the Civil War.
The June 18 tour will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include stops at Blackburn’s Ford, Signal Hill, Centreville, Manassas Junction, Lookout Hill and sites at the Manassas National Battlefield Park.
Officials with the county’s historic preservation division will share the details of the events leading up to the battle and the battle itself by telling stories surrounding the triumphs and tragedies of those who fought in the war.
The trip, happening one month before the 150th commemoration of the First Battle of Manassas, costs $80 and reservations are required. The cost includes transportation, admission to the sites and lunch. The proceeds will help further the mission of the county’s historic preservation department, county officials said.
