Washington Nationals welcome furry fans

When the Washington Nationals play the Florida Marlins on May 14, don’t be surprised if the words to “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” sound a little different.

As in “ruff, ruff, ruff for the home team.”

That’s because National Park will be going to the dogs, welcoming four-legged as well as two-legged fans with “Pups in the Park.”

Before the game, dogs and their owners can participate in a pooch parade, which will be led by Tillman the skateboarding bulldog. Dogs and their owners will be able to sit together in right-field sections set aside for them. There will be places for the dogs to get water and “do their business.” Owners must be able to show that their dog’s vaccinations are current.

When: Saturday, May 14. Game starts at 1:05 p.m. Pooch parade will take place before the start of the game.

Where: Nationals Park, 1500 South Capitol St. SE

Cost: Tickets for owners are $20. Tickets for dogs are $5 with that money going to the Washington Humane Society.

For more information: www.nationals.com/pups

If you can’t make it: There will be other Pups in the Park games July 9 and

Sept. 24.
