Corolla, N.C.: How to get there, where to stay and what to do

GETTING THERE

The Outer Banks are about 300 miles from Washington; in the off-season, the drive can take less than five hours. Take Interstate 95 south to I-295 south to I-64 east to Virginia Route 168 south into North Carolina. Continue south on North Carolina Route 168/Caratoke Highway to NC-158 east, which goes to the Wright Memorial Bridge and the Banks. Turn left at Route 12 and continue north to Corolla.
