Hiking

Swimming
Livadi Beach is a popular spot with sandy beaches and waves for surfing. Near the village of Armenistis, about 30 miles northwest of Agios Kirikos, the island’s capital.
Nas Beach (just southwest of Armenistis) is a pretty spot surrounded by rocky cliffs.
Festivals
Ikaria’s panygiria are held throughout the summer. These all-night celebrations in honor of saints include lots of eating, dancing and drinking. For details, see www.island-ikaria.com.
Moni Theoktistis & Chapel of Theoskepasti
Pigi
Byzantine chapel with an impressive granite overhang for a roof. Near the Monastery of Theoktistis, which has frescoes that date to the 17th century. Free.
