WHAT TO DO
1480 E. Ford Rd.
June 19-Sept. 18, $2,100 per person, double occupany. Includes three meals, plus beer and wine at cocktails and dinner.
Offers twice daily two- to three-hour horseback riding and hours- or day-long fishing trips for those who don’t ride. For the fishing, you can take off on your own with a great map, or sometimes owner Bayard Fox may be able to join you. Lots of hiking available.
Nearby Dubois, settled in the 1800s, is a true cowboy town and well worth a visit or two. Besides the twice-weekly rodeo, there’s shopping for art, Western antiques, leather goods and cowboy apparel. The National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center (907 W. Ramshorn St., 307-455-3429) is a nice introduction to the wildlife. The weekly square dancing at various nightspots draws as many locals as tourists.
