New airport dining at Dulles, National and BWI airports

Despite your best-laid plans to pack snacks or eat before leaving for the airport, you can still be attacked by hunger pangs before your flight. Or maybe you just want a quiet drink to calm your pre-flight jitters. If you’ve been unimpressed by dining and drinking options at our three local airports, there are some planned and recent additions that you might find tempting.

Reagan National

• &pizza: Specialty pizzas. Post-security, Terminal C. Opening early winter.

• American Tap Room: Full-service dining with local beer. Post-security, Terminal C. Opening this summer.

• Ben’s Chili Bowl: Second Arlington location of the local favorite. Pre-security in National Hall, near the security checkpoint for Gates 23-34. Opening late spring.

• Five Guys Burgers and Fries: Home-grown chain reopens. Post-security, Terminal C. Opening this summer.

• Grille District: Restaurant and bar. Post-security, Terminal B. Opening early winter.

• Legal Sea Foods: The seafood chain returns to the airport. Pre-security in National Hall, near the security checkpoint for Gates 23-34. Opening late spring.

• Pinkberry: Frozen yogurt. Pre-security in National Hall, near the security checkpoint for Gates 23-34. Opening late spring.

• Starbucks: The mega coffee chain. Three locations, pre- and post-security. Opening early winter.

• Taylor Gourmet: Local sandwich shop. Post-security in Terminal B/C. Opening early winter.

Washington Dulles

• Au Bon Pain: Ubiquitous cafe and bakery. Post-security in Concourse C. Opening late spring.

• Auntie Anne’s: Pretzels, lots of pretzels. Post-security in Concourse C. Opening late spring.

• Be Right Burger: Build your own turkey, beef, chicken or veggie burger. Post-security in Concourse C. Opening this summer.

• Bar Symon: Chain from Michael Symon, co-host of ABC’s “The Chew.” Post-security in Concourse D. Opening early winter.

• Bistro Atelier: French cuisine. Post-security in Concourse D. Opening late spring.

• Capitol Grounds Coffee: Cafe with coffee, soups, salads and sandwiches. Pre-security in the main terminal (baggage claim level). Opening early winter.

• Carrabba’s Italian Grill: Italian chain. Post-security in Concourse C. Opening early winter.

• Chef Geoff’s: New location from local chef Geoff Tracy, serving contemporary cuisine. Post-security in Concourse C. Opening early winter.

• District Chophouse: Steakhouse. Pre-security in the main terminal (ticketing level). Opening early winter.

• D.C. Craft Brews: Beer, including some local brews. Post-security in Concourse D. Opening early winter.

• The Firkin & Fox: British-style pub. Post-security in Concourse A. Opening late spring.

• Luv’nBerry: Frozen yogurt. Post-security in Concourse A. Now open.

• Potbelly Sandwich Shop: Sandwiches. Post-security in Concourse D. Opening early winter.

• Smashburger: Burgers. Post-security in Concourse A. Opening early winter.

• Starbucks: More of the mega coffee chain. Several locations. Opening early winter.

BWI Marshall

• Sky Azure: Cocktails, beer, wine and tapas. Pre-security, Observation Gallery. Opened in July 2013.

• Zona Cocina: Latin and Mexican fare. Concourse B (post-security). Reopened in April.
