l Miraval, an all-inclusive resort and spa in Tucson, is offering summer freebies. With the Life in Balance Spa Sampler package, book a three-night stay and get a complimentary room upgrade ($225 value), manicure and pedicure ($165) and spa gift ($30), plus 20 percent off boutique purchases. l Great Southern Rail, which operates train voyages in Australia, and Qantas Vacations are offering free upgrades from Red Sleeper to Gold Service on select routes. Couples can save up to $1,400. For example, in September, two adults on the Ghan, which travels between Darwin and Adelaide, pay $2,918, with taxes, a savings of $1,285. The higher-end sleeper cabins come with an en-suite bathroom, all meals, a Gold Service reception with a beverage, steward service, and tea, coffee and toiletries kit. l British Airways has a sale on award flights. Join the Executive Club (free) and save 25 percent on select flights from several U.S. gateway cities (the closest to Washington are New York and Philadelphia) to London. For example, a round-trip coach ticket from New York JFK to London Heathrow requires 30,000 Avios (miles), compared with the usual 40,000. Book by May 30; travel by Dec. 31. l Carnival has a Memorial Day sale on most of its 2012 cruises. Save up to $50 on three- to five-day summer sailings, up to $100 on cruises of six days or longer, and up to $100 on sailings from September through December. All offers are per cabin.
