Stacey Hinton, 32, is senior director of development at the American Gastroenterological Association. Alexander Tuneski, 33, is an attorney at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton. They live in Clarendon.
Wedding date: June 23
Location: Nationals Park
How they met: In fall 2007, the two were introduced by Hinton’s roommate, who worked at Tuneski’s law firm. They became friends and had always gone out in groups until one evening in March 2010. That night, on a whim, Hinton texted Tuneski to meet her for drinks at Cleveland Park Bar & Grill. He was up for it. “Timing is everything,” Hinton says. After that, their friendship turned into a relationship.
The proposal: When they returned to Tuneski’s apartment after dinner at L’Auberge Chez Francois, Hinton was awed at the sight of dozens of roses and candles, as Tuneski got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.
The wedding: They chose the venue because Tuneski is a big Nats fan. (During their courtship, one of their memorable dates was attending pitcher Stephen Strasburg’s first game.) The ceremony took place behind home plate with guests in the stands and one of Tuneski’s friends officiating. The reception in the PNC Diamond Club overlooked the field; music was courtesy of cover band Kristen and the Noise. The couple carried out the baseball theme by filling favor bags with Cracker Jacks and peanuts; guests were treated to late-night snacks of hot dogs and pretzels.
The honeymoon: The couple vacationed in Hawaii. Among the highlights of the trip were a helicopter ride, a dinner boat cruise up the Na Pali Coast and a scenic drive on the Road to Hana.
