Police find marijuana stash worth $100,000

On Saturday, Prince George’s County police found nearly $100,000 worth of marijuana, plus some cash and drug paraphernalia, inside a house in Temple Hills, the department said on its social media sites.

Police officers who were executing a search warrant at the Catskill Street house arrested one person after recovering the 2,442 grams of marijuana, the department said. No details on the suspect were provided.

Suitland girl, 6, dies after tangled in cords

A 6-year-old girl died Saturday afternoon after becoming entangled in cords from a window blind in her Suitland home, according to the Prince George’s County Fire Department.

The girl, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital, said fire spokesman Mark Brady. In a statement, he said a relative of the girl called 911 about 12:30 p.m. and reported that the child was unconscious in the house, in the 6700 block of Larkspur Road, near Suitland Parkway and the Capital Beltway.

A cause of death has not yet been determined. Authorities said Prince George’s County police are also investigating.

Body found Thursday missing police officer

A body found in a rural area of Virginia on Thursday has been identified as that of a missing reserve police officer, according to Virginia State Police.

Relatives of Capt. Kevin Wayne Quick, 45, of Rockfish, Va., were notified Friday, state police said. Spokeswoman Corinne Geller declined to say how Quick died.
