3 injured by teen driver during driving lesson in Ashburn

A teenage driver struck and injured three girls Thursday evening as she took a driving lesson from a parent in Ashburn, Loudoun County Sheriff’s officials said.

The girls were hospitalized after the accident on Morven Woods Court about 6:45 p.m., said Liz Mills, a spokeswoman. The teen driver mistakenly accelerated the vehicle, which jumped a curb and struck the girls as they were playing on the sidewalk, Mills said.

A seven-year-old girl was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital in critical but stable condition, Mills said. An eight-year-old and a 10-year-old were taken to Inova Landsdowne Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
