A renovated reflecting pool
The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has had major structural and maintenance problems fixed. A $34 million renovation project started in 2010 has created a new floor support structure to prevent the pool from cracking and sinking and a filtration pump system has been installed to keep about 4 million gallons of water clean and moving instead of stagnating. The pool’s water source will now be the Tidal Basin instead of DC Water, saving the city from using public water. Read related article.
