The $6.5 million streetscape project in the neighborhood has brought business down, area merchants say.
March 6, 2012 Faisal, the manager at Pizza Mart, looks out his window at the construction site where workers are repairing 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan. Major construction has been taking place for a year, as crews work to replace aging sewage lines, gas lines and add fiber-optic cable underground. The construction has disrupted businesses and traffic. Faisal, who declined to give his last name, says his business has dropped by 60 to 70 percent since the project began.
