The northbound train, carrying about 300 passengers, was delayed by about two hours, said spokeswoman Kimberly Woods. Other trains also were delayed.

At 10 p.m. Woods reported that all trains were moving in the corridor between Washington and points to the north, but with delays of between one and two hours.

Ridership is typically heavy on the last weekend before Christmas.
