Animal Watch: Groundhog’s day? Swim, float, swim, float.

July 12

TEMPLE HILLS, Chesterfield Drive, 5500 block, June 27. A woman called animal management to report that a groundhog had been in her pool for several hours, swimming a little and then floating during what seemed to be attempts to find a way out. The caller was advised to extend a board or a stick into the water to allow the animal to get out, but that didn’t work. An animal control officer then removed the groundhog, which was taken to a wildlife rehabilitator.

Among cases received by the Prince George’s County Animal Management Division.
