Arrests follow Loudoun robberies

Three people were robbed at gunpoint in two incidents in Loudoun County over the weekend, and three suspects were arrested after a chase and search, the county sheriff’s office said.

In the first incident, the victim was getting out of a vehicle about 12:40 a.m. Saturday near Sanderson Drive in the Sterling area when four people took his backpack, which held a laptop, smartphone and wallet, the sheriff’s office said.

About an hour later, two people walking in the 46000 block of Shaw Road, also in the Sterling area, were robbed of a smartphone, the sheriff’s office said.

The arrests came after a vehicle was stoppped near Falke Plaza. Its occupants ran from the scene, but three people were seized.

Police said they charged Idris Zikria-Showers, 19, of Gainesville, and two juveniles, both from Manassas, with three counts of robbery.

A dog being used in the search for the robbers was hit by a car, but not seriously injured, the sheriff’s office said.
