‘Clang!’ went the trolley line

Fifty years after it was closed down, the D.C. streetcar system and its last day are fondly recalled — as the city lays the tracks for a new streetcar line to begin running in 2013.

A weekly pass from 1937 cost $1.25 and was good "on Street Car and Bus Lines of Capital Transit Company in the District of Columbia, on which the cash rate of fare is 10 cents or less. Good from 5:00 a.m. Sunday until 5:00 p.m. the following Sunday."

SpaceX prepares to return home
