11-year-old Maryland girl dies after apparent drowning in St. Mary’s County

The body of an 11-year-old girl who disappeared while swimming in Southern Maryland on Friday was found Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The girl was identified as Faith J. Lee, of Chaptico in St. Mary’s County. The St. Mary’s sheriff’s office said she had been swimming in the Wicomico Rivere.

Her body was found about 2 p.m. Sunday near the shorline at Newburg, in Charles County, authorities said.

The St. Mary’s sheriff’s office said the death appeared to be accidental.
