Thief in Pr. George’s reaches into car, grabs purse

By ,

A purse was stolen in Prince George’s County last week by a thief who reached into a car at a service station and grabbed it, and four similar incidents occurred the next day, police said.

They said the first incident occurred about 6 p.m. Wednesday as the driver was returning to her car after pumping gasoline in the 5300 block of Sheriff Road in the Landover area.

The Thursday incidents occurred at three service stations and a food store in the Landover, Oxon Hill and Capitol Heights areas, police said.

The four thefts occurred between 9:46 a.m. and 12:36 p.m.

In Wednesday’s theft, police said the thief was a passenger in an SUV that pulled alongside the victim’s car.

The thief got out, reached into the car from the passenger side and returned to the SUV with the purse.
