D.C. Council member Marion Barry in traffic crash Saturday night

D.C. Council member Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) was in a traffic crash Saturday night in Southeast Washington, police said.

Barry was taken to a hospital after the 9:30 p.m. crash near the 2800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE, authorities said. A law enforcement source said he was cited by police for allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road and driving with expired tags.

A spokeswoman for Barry, a diabetic, said he had a low blood sugar episode and “became disoriented.”
