4 people shot, 3 stabbed in 3 incidents in NE

Four people were shot and three were stabbed within a few square miles in the District on Tuesday in three incidents that appeared to have no connection but geography and the date.

In the latest of the incidents, all of which occurred in Northeast Washington, two men and a woman were shot about 6 p.m. in a store near Benning Road at 44th Street, police said. All three were taken to hospitals, and one was in serious condition, said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.
