Anne Arundel Popeye’s employee found dead; police say they have made an arrest

Anne Arundel County police say they have made an arrest in the killing of a Popeye’s employee whose body was found badly beaten inside the fast-food restaurant’s stockroom Sunday morning.

County police identified the victim as Luzviminda Monreal, 47, of Laurel, Md. Her body suffered “significant trauma,” authorities said.

Monreal’s body was found inside the Popeye’s at 5317 Ritchie Highway in north Brooklyn Park. The restaurant's manager discovered the body shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday.

Detectives said the woman had worked at the restaurant Saturday evening. No motive has been established.

Anne Arundel police are expected to release more details of the arrest at a news conference Tuesday morning.
