Arlington mother strangled by boyfriend, police say

An Arlington woman was assaulted and strangled by her boyfriend last night while holding her small child, police said Friday.

“When she tried to leave the apartment, he grabbed her, pulled her back and held her at knife point,” said Arlington Police Lt. Mike Watson. She was able to get free and call 911, he added.

The attack occured at 8:28 p.m. Thursday, in an apartment on the 4400 block of S. 31st Street in Shirlington. Cliudio Olibio, 29, of Arlington, has been arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery, strangulation, and abduction. He is being held without bond.
