Arlington parole officer accused of sexually assaulting ten year old

A probation officer from Arlington was arrested this month after being accused of sexually assaulting a girl in Woodbridge.

On July 9, detectives from the Special Victims Unit of the Prince William County police responded to a residence in the 3500 block of Forestdale Avenue in Woodbridge to investigate a sexual assault reported to have occurred two days earlier. According to police, an investigation revealed that a 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by Marco Antonio Silva, 40, an acquaintance. Silva was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery, a felony punishable by one to 20 years in prison. He is being held without bond.

A spokeswoman for Arlington County confirmed that Silva works as a probation officer there with adult parolees. He was hired in 2009.

“We are aware of his arrest in Prince William County and are cooperating fully with the police investigation there,” Mary Curtis said. “Mr. Silva has been place on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.”
