Arrests made in vandalism targeting more than 100 cars

Five people have been charged in connection with a series of recent vandalisms that targeted more than 100 parked cars in the Centreville area, Fairfax County police said.

Three adults from Manassas have been arrested and charged with four counts of felony destruction of property and two counts of misdemeanor destruction of property. They have been identified as Travis Samuel Boykin Nokes, 22; Nicole McPherson, 24; and Trevyon Tibbs, 18. Petitions have been obtained charging two other Manassas area juveniles, ages 14 and 16, on the same charges.

The vehicles were struck with BB-like projectiles between Feb. 2-18, while parked on a handful of streets, police said. It appeared the vandals shot at the vehicles while driving down the following roads: Old Centreville Road, Skipton Court, Federation Drive, Singletons Way and Compton Lane.

The suspects were identified after a citizen reported a loud noise and a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bull Run Post Office Road on Feb. 21. Officers located the vehicle, and several smashed mailboxes were also discovered in the area. An investigation led to charges being placed in the vandalism of the parked cars.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be placed.
