Bethesda man dies of injuries days after pedestrian collision on Rockville Pike

A pedestrian collision in North Bethesda turned fatal after a 24-year-old Bethesda man died from the crash, Montgomery County authorities said Monday.

Police said the man, identified as Matthew Aaron Papirmeister, succumbed to injuries he sustained in an Aug. 6 collision on Rockville Pike. He died at Suburban Hospital this weekend, authorities said.

According to an on-duty officer who witnessed the 11:15 p.m. crash, Papirmeister tried to cross the southbound lanes of Rockville Pike when he was struck by a Toyota Venza traveling south. The driver of the Venza, identified as Madani Diallo, 57, of Adelphi, remained on the scene, a department press release said.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
