Bethesda man in critical condition after being hit by vehicle on Rockville Pike

Montgomery County police said a 24-year-old Bethesda man remained in critical condition Thursday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Rockville Pike in North Bethesda Wednesday night.

The man has life-threatening injuries and was being treated at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, authorities said. Police did not release the identity of the man.

According to a press release, the man was attempting to cross Rockville Pike around 11:15 p.m. when he was struck by a southbound Toyota Venza. Police said the driver stayed at the scene after the crash. The release also said an on-duty officer witnessed the accident.

The crash is still under investigation and authorities asked that anyone with information contact the Montgomery County Police Department’s collision reconstruction unit at 240-773-6620 or call the non-emergency number at 301-279-8000. Police said callers may remain anonymous.
