Burglar fires shot inside Capitol Hill home after break-in, police say

A burglar armed with a gun broke into a house near Northeast Washington’s Capitol Hill neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon and fired at least one shot before fleeing, D.C. police said.

Several people were the inside the house but no one was hit, said Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman. The incident occurred about 1:35 p.m. in the 600 block of Pickford Place NE. It’s an alley street between H Street and Maryland Avenue.

Police did not immediately have a description of the suspected burglar.
