A man suspected of fleeing the scene of a fatal car crash a few weeks ago turned himself in Tuesday, authorities said.
Bryant Christopher Lewis, 23, surrendered to the Department of Corrections after police issued a warrant for his arrest last week, charging him with leaving the scene of an accident and related car theft counts, Prince George’s County police said in a statement.
Investigators believe Lewis was driving a stolen Ford Mustang on July 17 when he crashed into a utility pole at about 10:45 p.m., police said. When police arrived at the scene of the crash on McKendree Road west of Crain Highway, they found the passenger of the car dead, authorities said. Brendan Munnerlyn, 23, was ejected from the car and a man was seen running from the crash, police said.
Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, police said.
