D.C. man, 52, arrested and charged with second-degree murder

D.C. police detectives arrested a 52-year-old man Saturday on suspicion of murder in the death of a woman from Northeast Washington.

Alphonso Cleveland, also of Northeast, was charged with second-degree murder while armed following an investigation that police said began with the discovery of a body Friday afternoon on the 300 block of 18th Place NE.

Claudia Hall, 51, had suffered “apparent trauma to her body,” according to a D.C. police statement. Further details on the cause of death were unavailable, pending an autopsy.
