August 28, 2014

D.C. police on Wednesday arrested two men and charged them with robbing a person on the Metropolitan Branch Trail in the Northeast Washington neighborhood of Eckington.

The robbery occurred about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday near R Street, about two blocks north of New York Avenue. Police released few details but said the robbery was committed with a gun.

D.C. police said they arrested De’Andre Cox, 22, of Northeast, and David Lamont Green, 22, of Suitland. Each have been charged with armed robbery and carrying a pistol.

In June, police arrested a 16-year-old who they said knocked a woman off her bicycle along the trail and stole $1 near R Street NE. That same month, police arrested a 14-year-old and charged him as a juvenile with trying to sexually assault a woman along the trail near Fourth Street NE. In June 2013, a bicyclist in his 30s was severely beaten by as many as 15 youths on the trail.
