A man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking along the Southeast Freeway earlier this month has been identified as a 44-year-old man from Northeast Washington, according to a D.C. police report.
Michael Antonio Waddell died at the scene of the March 12 accident in the westbound lanes of the highway near 7th Street Southeast, police said. It occurred about 11:55 p.m.
Police said Waddell was struck by a 2004 Cadillac sport utility vehicle. No charges have been filed in the accident.
A police report says that Waddell’s mother had reported her son missing the day before the accident. The report says the victim had the mental capacity of a child.
Waddell’s mother said she did not want to talk about the case.
