D.C. police investigate killing in Northeast

D.C. police are investigating the killing of a man who was found by authorities in the Unit block of N Street NE.

Police were called to the area for an unconscious person around 5:24 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities said the man, whom police did not identify pending notification of next of kin, was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound when officers arrived. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release.

The release, which said detectives classified the killing as a homicide, also said authorities have scheduled an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District.
