D.C. police officer on scooter is struck and injured by a vehicle in southeast D.C.

A D.C. police officer who was riding on his police scooter was struck and injured by a vehicle Monday evening in Southeast Washington, police officials said.

The officer was heading west on Good Hope Road and the other driver was heading east on the same road when the car turned left and struck the officer just after 6 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman.

Authorities took the officer and a person from the striking vehicle to hospitals. Their injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.

No further details about the crash were immediately available, Metcalf said.
